He is strining to instil faith in Calcuttans, endeavouring
to make them believe that a severed habd or foream can be
joined and made to work as normal if the severed parts are
brought before the doctor. Dr. Anupam Golash, Calcutta's only
reconstructive micro-surgeon, currently practises in south
Howrah's West Bank hospital.
Reconstructive microsurgery is common in Mumbai, Channai,
Delhi and Chandigarh. But it is still unknown to the people of
eastern India.
Dr. Golash Says reconstructive micro-surgery has two
branches; reinplantation (joining the severed
